Awesome.  You should be drinking a sparkling wine at least this good at least once per week.   This bottle gives you no excuse.  Too easy to drink.  The fruit is up front, but it's decidedly dry, and good balance keeps it from being one-dimensional.  The color is beyond festive.  My wife described it as "literally the color of Faygo Redpop"--and that's about right.  Even the mousse is pink. Great inexpensive bubbly for a party.

I had never heard of Bouzeron. I admit that I am actually more likely to try something I have never heard of if it is expensive. (I suppose my explanation is that a sixty dollar bottle of wine sometimes may not meet your expectations, but it rarely sucks!) Still, I was hopeful based on a 3-point wine pitch: Bouzeron is an appellation all it's own / it's not Chardonnay--it's Aligote´ / made by a former manager of the Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

When first opened, it has such a resin-like, ethanol nose. The fruit is unique with an interesting, rustic, country quality. I like the acid balance of this wine--I expect good lively acid in these wines--they seem clumsy when they lack that acid.

50% Monastrell, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Tempranillo--12 months in oak

Deep, dark red color, with a drop of purple. Definitely a new-world personality with a ripe, plummy, pronounced fruit, but also has a balance that is relatively rare in a warm climate wine at this price.  Nice finish,  Reasonable tannins provide structure for the dark fruit. Mighty nice value. One of the best reds for under $20 that I have come across in a while.  I had it with a very garlicky roast lamb and a three-color heirloom tomato salad and I could see it paired with even spicier meats--a great substitute for (the often blunt) Zinfandel.
